LACEY TOWNSHIP — Police say they’ve arrested a convicted felon and suspected white supremacist with a stockpile of weapons in the Ocean County woods that included an AK-47.
Police said Lacey officers were leading a multi-agency task force covering about 60 square miles of rural wooded Ocean County to deter criminal activity, trespassing and off-road vehicle use in the Pinelands area Sunday afternoon when they saw a suspicious vehicle in the wooded area of Lacey Township.
The 2007 Hyundai Tucson was pulled off of the path and into the woods on Bryant Road in the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area, police said.
Police found two people in the woods about 100 yards from the vehicle, police said.
One, Bruce J. Post III, 42, “was wearing combat gear and gave indications of possible white-supremacist involvement,” police said in an announcement of the arrests. It wasn’t clear from a police announcement what the indications were — though in mugshots from his current and previous arrests, Post’s hair and mustache are styled to closely resemble Adolf Hitler’s.
Police said after speaking to the two men, they found an AK-47, a Walther P38 9mm handgun, eight 30-round high-capacity magazines one 100-round drum magazine, and various forms of ammunition at the scene within the woods.
Police also found shovels and tarps in Post’s possession, police said.
