Bayfest At Somers Point Saturday

SOMERS POINT — Bayfest shuts down 14 side streets by the bay, causes traffic detours and sometimes creates crowd-control issues.

But that’s actually good news, because the annual event, regarded as the largest single-day festival at the Jersey Shore, means big business to this city of 11,000 residents.
“We look forward to it,” Mayor Jack Glasser said of the event, which has attracted as many as 40,000 visitors to Bay Avenue on the final Saturday in April for the last 27 years. “It brings so many people to Somers Point and gives us a chance to show people what we’ve got. You can’t put a price tag on it.”
