Obama Will Not Attend Scalia's Funeral

The White House announced on Wednesday that President Barack Obama will not be attending the funeral of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Saturday.
Press Secretary Josh Earnest stated that instead, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill will represent the administration at the ceremony. Earnest added that the president and his wife Michelle will go to the Supreme Court on Friday to pay their respects to the former justice, while his body lies in repose.

Politico reported that, following the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist (who was until Scalia the most recent sitting Supreme Court justice to die) in 2005, President George W. Bush not only attended the service, but delivered a eulogy.

Earnest was pressed whether the Obamas had plans on Saturday which prevented them from attending Scalia’s funeral, but the press secretary repeated that they would pay their respects on Friday.

Earnest was then asked if the president planned to play golf on Saturday, but the press secretary deflected, not directly answering the question.

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday: “The funeral [for Justice Scalia] will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.” The shrine is the largest Catholic Church in North America.

Once again Obama thumbs his nose at his own country. Transparent and selfish. God help us get thru this final year

Yet he attends funerals for thugs with Al Sharpton. And, Obama never attended the funeral of the soldiers killed in Benghazi! First class jerk!

Obamas ignorance has hit its peak. We are talking Chief Justice of the United States. Ronald I miss you.

Playing partisan politics when someone so important to so many is very disappointing and classless. Usually Presidents rise up and overcome their hard partisan views when someone passes away. A hard left partisan and very polarizing President to the bitter end.

Why should he be a phoney and go? Least he's not a hypocrite.

Because he is the leader of this great country, that's why.

Actually, Justice Scalia was not the Chief Justice as the 1:07 post states.
Considering that Ronald Reagan had Justice Kennedy appointed in his final year of office, with overwhelming Democratic support, I assume that the writer would agree that Barack Obama should be afforded the same consideration by the Republican members of the US Senate, especially since they don't even know who his candidate might be yet.
PS: Trump or Cruz will never win the US Presidency. It will either be Sanders or Clinton so Republicans might want to deal with the devil they know.
