Mullica in the Pines Historical Meeting, Tomorrow, 2/16/16

Mullica in the Pines Historical Society

Mark your calendars now for our next meeting on
Tuesday, February 16th at 7:00 pm, Hilda Frame School, Pleasant Mills Rd., Nesco. Tom Southard, noted local naturalist will enlighten us on one of his local projects. "Operation Good Scents"  for the past 17   years Tom and his colleagues have brought holiday thoughts to our Veterans and local shut-ins. He will be explaining to us the steps and procedures to get this goodwill project off the ground.  The Old Time Radio Show was a huge success, thank you to all who attended and a Big Thank You to our volunteers and anyone who supported us in any way.   Remember our Museum is open Wednesday and Saturday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. See you Tuesday the 16th. Info call 609-561-4034.

Those of you who attended the Old Time Radio Show know that Tom is no stranger to the entertainment field.  He started acting at a co-op during the Vietnam War near El Toro, Ca.  One of his classmates at the Laguna Playhouse was Harrison Ford (before they both became famous).  After a discharge from the navy, he studied acting at the Newport Beach Co-op.  He was then hired by Williams Petroleum to do a documentary on oil and gas expiration on the Rocky Mountain Front Black Feet Indian  Reservation in MT.  He studied performing arts at the University of Montana.  He returned to New Jersey and his first job was as a plant consultant for Benadryl commercials.  He has done massive plant designs for Will Smith's  movie, "I am Legend".  His artistic creations appear in Aretha Franklin's video, "A Rose is Still a Rose".

Read more about Tom and the beautiful wreaths he makes every year for the Blessing of the Mullica River.  A June 2014 article at
