Christie Requests Fed. Disaster Aid for Towns Effected by Jonas

Excerpts
Gov. Chris Christie on Thursday said he would ask for a federal disaster declaration to reimburse towns for Winter Storm Jonas, which caused extensive flood damage in Atlantic and Cape May counties.

But homeowners, many of whom saw flood damage for the second time since Hurricane Sandy in 2012, will not be eligible for federal disaster relief.

The state estimates the storm caused more than $82 million in damage.
“This incident is of such severity and magnitude that an effective response is beyond the capabilities of the state and the affected county and local governments," Christie said in a statement.

But the governor's office said none of the towns sustained enough private property damage to warrant a request for individual federal assistance, which would help homeowners and business owners directly.

Here a guy who told a college student in New Hampshire only one county had some minor flood damage that could be mopped and that the mayor who was complaining was crazy. Now he's asking the Feds for a lot of money for 17 counties. I 'd like to see the Feds send trucks of mops but we all know the money will come and of course our Gov won;t admit his statements were rash.
