Stockton's Day of Service

Thousands of Stockton University students began arriving back on campus over the weekend for the start of a new semester.

But before classes start, many will spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day helping local communities and nonprofit groups at the university’s 12th annual Day of Service.
Started by former President Herman J. Saatkamp as a way to encourage students to be involved in their communities, the event has grown from a few hundred students to almost 1,000 students, staff, faculty and community members, making it the largest single service project in the area.  Area high school students and local residents also participate. Some of the activities are local, while others have global impact.

For horse lovers there will be plenty of chores at South Jersey Horse Rescue in Weekstown, Mullica Township.
