One Vote Does Make A Difference

MICHELLE BRUNETTI POST, Staff Writer
MULLICA TOWNSHIP — Republican Ed Hagaman was returned to Township Committee after a year away from politics, but there is a tight race for the second open committee seat.
Incumbent Democrat Barbara Rheault and Republican challenger John Walther are separated by just one vote after unofficial tallies of machine votes and uncertified mail-in votes.
Provisional votes, which are written ballots used when there is an issue with verifying a voter or their right to cast an electronic vote, are yet to be counted.
Incumbent Democrat Anthony Gabris was out of the running after the unofficial vote count, too far behind to make it up with provisional ballots that may be outstanding.

Glad election day has come and gone. So many constant phone calls asking for votes, heaps of mailings, too much smear tv and radio ads, too much facebook etc etc. No doorknocking in our neighborhood or allowing us to talk and meet these folks and ask questions. No public meet the candidate debates in our town.We still have the parties involved stopping us as we try to leave the dump and enjoy our weekend precious time. All about networking to get votes. Blindly voting the party line such as the large amount of votes going to Mr Schroeder who announced over a month ago he was withdrawing from the County Executive race. While a lot of folks in this county complain about Trenton politics the incumbents were reelected for the state assembly.Lets enjoy the now off election time before next years Presidential election which will be much worse than now regarding all those little annoyances. Thanks Gadfly for all the updates and important info instead of all the partisan trash.

I knew Schroeder dropped out of the race but I voted for him as a protest vote against the destruction being done to Atlantic County. I would love to see Mullica candidates debate. I enjoy meeting candidates or other causes at the dump. I think it's the only way to reach a large amount of people for free. It's a lot better than spending a ton of wasted money. The Assembly race wasted multiple millions. After the first two flyers, I didn't bother reading the next 15 or more. Nothing will change until the people realize that elections are all about who gets the big contracts and who benefits from the results and it sure won't be the people because both parties play the same games. We need a strong independent party for the people for change to happen.

Why didn't the Democrats replace Schroeder with someone else? I think not having a candidate or having a candidate step down just prior to an election hurts everyone on the ticket. People are going to mad at Schroeder.
