Mullica
Township's trick-or-treating is October 31st from 6-8pm. Halloween is
one of the most fun nights of the year, but it can be dangerous if
parents and children are not careful. Keep these Halloween safety tips
in mind and have fun this Halloween!
1. Plan a route: pick familiar
streets, and do not make routes too long. Little legs get tired quickly,
and keeping things close and familiar will help little ones from
getting lost.
2. Wear comfortable shoes and double tie laces.
3. Carry flashlights and place reflective tape onto your child's costume. Cars will see you better and you will trip less!
4. Pin up long costumes.
5. Skip the mask and use non-toxic face paint instead. Masks can make it hard for children to see or breathe.
6. Watch your weapons. Try to avoid using weapons (they are prohibited
in school anyway), but if your child's trick-or-treat costume is
incomplete without it, make sure it is foam or plastic. Try to get
things that will not injure your own or other children. Also, you are
going to have to carry it when your youngster's arms get tired!
7.
Always check your child's candy. Make a rule not to eat any candy while
out, and when you get home check all candy thoroughly before giving it
to your children.
8. Don't let older children trick or treat alone, suggest a group with at least one adult.
9. Keep an eye out for candles or bonfires in yards. Some costumes are
flammable so make sure your children give even small fires a wide berth.
10. Look both ways before crossing the street. Halloween can be very exciting, but don't forget to watch for traffic!
HAVE FUN OUT THERE.
