Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo, D-Atlantic, is holding a community town hall meeting to discuss the ongoing heroid and opioid epidemic.
The meeting will include stories
from families engaged in the fight against heroin and opioid addiction,
followed by a dialogue with a panel of experts in the field, a news
release from Mazzeo’s office said. The panel includes Atlantic County
Prodescutor Jim McClain, Atlantic Prevention Resources Executive
Director Bob Zlotnick, John Brooks Recovery Center CEO Alan Olberman and
retired Atlantic City Police Department Lt. Eric Scheffler, the release
said.
The meeting will take place
Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Walter E. Edge Hall theater in
Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing.
More than 50 people from Atlantic County have died due to heroin and opioid use, the release said.
“Drug addiction has taken over
our region and Atlantic County has the highest rate of fatal drug
overdoses in New Jersey. As a community we need to come together and
fight back -- for our kids and for our families,” Mazzeo said in the
release.
