EGG HARBOR CITY — A Millville man was charged with weapons offenses after police say a high speed chase this week ended in a crash at the end of Apple Street in Hamilton Township.
Kirk Williams, 20, of Millville
was charged with several counts of weapons possessions, eluding police,
and numerous motor vehicle violations. He was sent to the Atlantic
County jail in Mays Landing on $100,000 cash bail, according to police.
Police were called at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday about a suspicious vehicle in the area around Philadelphia Avenue and Duerer Street.
A patrolman saw the vehicle, with
masked individuals inside. When the driver saw the police car, he made
an illegal turn and drove south at a high rate of speed on Philadelphia
Avenue, police said.
Hamilton Township police found the vehicle, after it crashed down an embankment at the end of Apple Street in the township.
The occupants ran and only
Williams was arrested, police said. Officers also located several face
masks, pairs of gloves and two sawed-off 12-gauge shotguns.
Anyone with further information
on the other vehicle occupants is urged to contact the Egg Harbor City
Police Department at 609-965-2901.
