This is an accident-prone location along the WHP, especially when resident drivers and their passengers are stopped in the eastbound lane, waiting for westbound traffic to clear during rush hour to turn into Wharton Park. The Township couldn't care less.

The White Horse Pike (Route 30) is a state controlled highway. The intersection at Wharton Park Boulevard is also controlled by the state, despite the fact that Mullica Township controls the boulevard. This stretch has notoriously been a safety issue - it is a long, straight and dark stretch of roadway, and the rise in the roadway peaks in the vicinity of this intersection. Efforts were made to improve safety on this stretch with the cutting of a median "rumble strip" in the center of the roadway. Could safety be improved in this stretch? Undoubtedly, yes. I will be more than happy, as the Mullica Township Public Works Director, to contact our state officials to request additional safety improvements on the Pike - especially given that the state plans to make improvements on the Pike in Mullica Township in the near future. I don't hold my breath and expect the state to meet their "target dates" for these improvements - however I will pass along the concerns of Anonymous 11:36 poster to the State, as I have done (to either the State or County) when road complaints have made to me.

There is no reason for regular folks to bear concerns and not directly request appropriate remediation or "fixes" from their elected public officials. All you have to do is reach out - if it is something that concerns Mullica Township Public Works, I will be more than happy to hear your concerns. If it isn't something that I have control over, I am ( and have) been able to contact the appropriate state and county officials to find solutions.

I will reach out to the State to pass along your concerns about the Pike.

I'm really impressed that one of our committee people actually took the time to address the problem stated by an anonymous poster. It would be great if this kind of open dialogue continued here for other matters that may come up.

It won't , this is Mullica Twp.

This issue was previously addressed by prior committee members some years ago but the state did nothing.

Re 8:30am
It wouldn't hurt to try again. Maybe more accident statistics will persuade the State to investigate safety improvements on Rt. 30.
