Media Release:
On August 20th at approximately 11:13pm Ptl. Jamerson was flagged down
by a concerned citizen regarding a vehicle traveling West on Rt. 30
weaving in and out of its lane. Ptl. Jamerson was able to spot the
vehicle, make observations and determine that the vehicle was operating
in an unsafe manner. The vehicle, a 1995 Saturn, was stopped at Rt.30
and Elwood Road. An investigation of the driver including field
sobriety tests, indicated that an Allen Billingsley,
44 of Atco was operating while under the influence and then placed
under arrest. The vehicle was occupied by 6 people total. 4 juveniles
were located in the rear seat without seatbelts. The passenger, a
Rosemarie Billingsley, 48 years old also of Atco was arrested for
approximately $4,700 in outstanding warrants. The driver was processed
for DUI, with a .16% B.A.C. which is twice the legal limit in NJ. He
was then released to a family member. The passenger was lodged in the
Atlantic County Justice Facility. Family members were contacted for the
4 juveniles, they were released at the station as well. The driver
received multiple summons including DUI with a minor in the vehicle.
The Mullica Township Police Department would like to thank those that
alert the police in situations like the above, a potential tragedy was
avoided by the concerned citizen's initial report to Ptl. Jamerson
