Wittenberg said at Friday’s
commission meeting that South Jersey Gas’ reapplication to build a
22-mile pipeline from Maurice River Township to the B.L. England
Generating Station in Upper Township has been deemed complete and in
compliance with the commission’s Comprehensive Management Plan. It was
not on the agenda.
The route runs through 10 miles of protected Pinelands Forest Area, either under roads or along their shoulders.
It took only one change to bring
the company’s proposal into compliance, Wittenberg said in an interview
Tuesday. That was seeing proof that B.L England’s plant, which is in the
Pinelands National Reserve, will use almost all the gas traveling
through the pipeline.
