EGG HARBOR CITY – Sustainable
EHC, the city’s green team, will be hosting a Lighting Fair at a time
convenient to commuters and shoppers. The fair will be held 4-7:30 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 21 at Lincoln Park, 700 White Horse Pike, the site of the
weekly Jersey Fresh farmers market.
Members of the NJ Clean Energy Outreach
Team, which is sponsored by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities
Clean Energy Program, will be offering ENERGY STAR® qualified products
at reduced prices. Deep discounts will be available on high performing,
long lasting lighting products, including desk lamps and light bulb
packages for $10.
“We are so happy to be offering
residents a simple and easy way to protect the environment and save on
the cost of electricity while they are enjoying the Farmers Market,”
SustainableEHC Chairwoman Nanette LoBiondo Galloway said. “There are so
many little changes residents can make to reduce their carbon footprint
and save money, such as adjusting the thermostat a few degrees, shopping
local and using energy efficient products in the home. How hard is it
to screw in a new, energy efficient light bulb that lasts way longer
then the ones you think were energy efficient? Technology changes, and
so must we.”
According to officials at TechniArt,
Inc. of Collinsville, Conn., a member of the outreach team, LED light
bulbs last 10 times longer than CFL bulbs, and prices offered during the
fair are 50-75 percent less than retail thanks to grants from the
NJBPU.
“The Lighting Fair is just one more reason to come out to the park on Friday nights,” Galloway said.
