Kay Campbell Died In Rt. 30 Crash

A 45-year-old Egg Harbor City woman was killed in a three-car crash near Route 30 and Carton Avenue in Galloway Township Thursday night, police said.

Kay Campbell was extricated from her vehicle and pronounced dead at 9:16 p.m., township police said.
Police said she was driving west on Route 30 when her 2005 Hyundai crossed the center line and struck the left rear side of a car driven by Marisa Cowan, 29, of Hammonton.
The Hyundai continued traveling west in the eastbound lane and collided with a Toyota driven by Donald Kleinschmidt, 62, of Absecon, police said.
Cowan sustained minor injuries and was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, police said.
Kleinschmidt sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to AtlantiCare in Atlantic City.

Witness Herman Cruse, of Egg Harbor City, said he was heading home with his wife when a Hyundai Elantra in front of him swerved left over the rumble strip and clipped another car.
It then collided head on at “highway speed” with a red Toyota Tacoma, he said.
The front ends of both vehicles were destroyed.
“I feel like crap,” Cruse said. “I’ve never seen anything that bad in my entire life.”
Cruse said the driver of the Tacoma was conscious and talking when emergency responders removed him from his truck.
“He was complaining of head and neck pain,” Cruse said.
Authorities shut down Route 30 between Carton and Mannheim avenues for three hours.
Officers Steve Garrison and Kevin Costa of the Galloway Township Police Fatal Accident Unit are investigating.
