HAMMONTON — The Eagle Theatre is fairly new to educational programming, but jumped into it in a big way this year, bringing kids to special productions in its Theatre for Young Audiences program, and taking shows into schools for the first time.
The professional equity theater
started a pilot after-school program with Mullica Township schools,
teaching performance arts to a group of about 15 students this spring.
And about 40 kids are attending a monthlong Summer Camp for Young Performers, about double last year's attendance.
It's all part of the theater's
long-term mission to build a conservatory program, to train performers
from beginners to professional actors, said President and Board Chairman
Jim Donio.
