Practices in biblical age no longer acceptable
Regarding the June 3 letter, “Most Founding Fathers practicing Christians”:
The Founding Fathers were
practicing Christians who also happened to practice slavery. Since
slavery was an acceptable practice in the Bible, how come we don’t
practice slavery today? As the Bible is God’s law, then is denouncing
slavery also denouncing God’s law?
The greater theme of the Bible is to love one another. Remember that instead of focusing on Leviticus mentioning homosexuality.
Fortunately, slavery is now an
unacceptable practice. Women have equal rights. And our friends in the
LGBT community have the right to marry, love and be loved.
