Mullica Township Police Department added 19 new photos.
Mullica Township was hit with a very hard storm yesterday evening. Heavy rains and wind gusts caused a lot of fallen trees and power outages. The township emergency services along with public works have been and will be going through out the township to assist with the clean up. If you have a tree down on a power line please leave it alone. Allow for the power company to come out and clear the tree away from the power line. Currently, the Nesco and Sweetwater areas appear to be the most affected at this time. Attached are some photos that our emergency personnel responded to, along with a link to the most current Atlantic City Electric power outages.

The nearly 280,000 power outages
in Atlantic City Electric’s eight-county area in South Jersey surpassed
those from Hurricane Sandy, but the severity was not the same, said
Lendel Jones, spokeswoman for the utility’s parent Pepco Holdings.
“The damage from Sandy was a lot
more devastating as people lost homes and other perishable items. We
have not seen that. This is mostly damage to our equipment, which is
causing the outages,” she said.
There were about 220,000 electric outages in Atlantic City Electric’s territory after Hurricane Sandy, company officials said.
More than 100 mutual assistance
crews, line workers and others arrived from North Jersey and
out-of-state to aid a massive power restoration effort, Jones said.
Jersey Central Power and Light alone supplied about 120, spokesman Scott Surgeoner said.
More
than 100,000 customers had power restored by Wednesday evening, AC
Electric said, with all customers expected to be restored by midnight
Sunday.

We contacted the electric company at 640pm immediately after losing power and so did a few neighbors via the automaTed system. Today on the power outage website they run the first report the company has for our areA is at 215am. They are either totally screwed up or lying and roughly 8 hours was lost. The situation is still'UNDER EVALUATION. Give me a break Also 3 times we have received calls saying power was restored=NOT!!!!! Totally helpless with no updates no power no water,no a/c and not any sign of the fleet of trucks they claim. While letters to the press can help and going to the public meetings help our committee needs to contact the govt overseers and strongly speak for their citizens and voters explaining how this system they run needs to be improved, get more crews subcontracted AND trim more of these d......d trees which are the cause of this misery. Too many people suffering for a 10 minute windstorm. Thanks Gadfly for letting me vent.
This is a followup to my previous comment and the situation is worse now 26 hours after the outage began. We have been back and forth 12 x with the reps from ac electric and still dont know if we even have a work order out. We see the app and it tells us no outage. we call to report outage and get a different rep and answer each time. we supposedly got a work ticket written about 9am and had a crew dispatched. later we see on the outage map no crew dispatched. At 630pm we got another rep who stated no record of us reporting an outage. we got several other numbers to call including utah, delaware, and dc. The reps there had no knowledge of the situation cause they hadnt received any yet. after all this time we have no idea if we are on the repair list, and when or if we will get power back.look no one can stop storms from hitting and the damage they do but this is totally inexcusable.Rumors are maybe on Thursday evening or Friday morning folks may be able to get power and water back, A robocall with some inFo might be nice and if its a few more days then at least families can leave to go to motels or relatives instead of staying here suffering heat, sweat, no cooking, et etc.
Status at Day 3 is we finally have a date estimate for the power restoration. Visited through Hammonton has most businesses and govt buildings with power and it seems the crews are now repairing Hammonton residential areas. I assume after that crews will be in Mullica. However I would like to mention at 8am this morning there were 5 bucket trucks parked along a street in Hammonton while all the crews are standing around one of them talking. I would assume they just reported to work at that time and are not working 24/7 to get us on line. I have also discovered that the phrase "under evaluation" means its been reported but the office isnt actin on it. .
Question for Gadfly and our elected official s. I just saw on abc 6 folks w/o power in Greenwich township sitting in a emergency shelter till their homes get power restored. Many towns have such designated shelters for long term power outages and other emergencies . I believe it is required so question is do we have one and why wasn't it announced or available for residents who are still w/o power. The township and school buildings are taxpayer funded are they not?
6/26/15 As per Town Hall, the School and the Municipal Building are designated as emergency shelters only. At this time, there is no provision for supplying people with long term power outages with services.
Thank you moderator for answering my post. I hope that the powers that be consider such a provision since so many of these events are becoming a fact of life and not a once in a lifetime event. I will continue to follow GADFLY site for info which you do provide as a valuable public service. I also understand that the buildings mentioned are equipped with expensive taxpayer funded generators with part of the rationale for their purchase is that they are there for emergenices Maybe Mayor and committee might review the idea.
