The National Association of
Letter Carriers, in conjunction with the United States Postal Service,
will hold their 23rd annual "Stamp-Out Hunger" food drive in communities
all across the country on May. 9.
Postal customers can place
non-perishable food items in a bag near their mailbox. The mail carrier
will then pick it up that Saturday during their regularly scheduled
delivery and see that it gets to a local hunger relief organization in
the area.
In Atlantic, Cape May and
Cumberland counties, most of the food will be donated to the Community
FoodBank of New Jersey in Egg Harbor Township for distribution to
charities located in those counties. Volunteers are needed and welcomed
to help weigh, sort and pack the fifty tons of food that is expected
that day. All volunteers must be at least 12 years of age. For more, or
to volunteer, call 609-383-8843, ext. 114 or email mbocelle@cfbnj.org.
