Mullica Fire Destroys Garage & Boat

A detached garage was “completely destroyed” in a Mullica Township fire Tuesday, fire officials said.

An adjacent boat also caught fire and was “substantially destroyed,” said Sweetwater Volunteer Fire Company Chief Gary Franklin.
Franklin said firefighters were dispatched to the fire, located on Mullica River Drive, at 3:01 p.m. He said the fire was under control just before 4 p.m.
Franklin said there were no occupants in the garage and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is still unknown, he said, and the fire is under investigation by the Atlantic County Fire Marshall and the state Division of Fire Safety.
Franklin thanked the six fire companies – Sweetwater, Elwood, Nesco, Weekstown, Egg Harbor City and Hammonton – who responded to the fire.
