A bill to allow for-profit couriers to deliver lottery tickets was passed by a state Assembly committee on Monday.
“Ticket delivery will make
lottery products more accessible for players who are homebound or find
it inconvenient to get to a retailer,” Assemblyman John Burzichelli, who
sponsored the bill, said in a statement.
The bill also allows the state
lottery commission to draft regulations for couriers to redeem winning
tickets on behalf of clients.
As brick-and-mortar casino revenue declines steeply, placing bets in New Jersey has become easier than ever.
In November 2013 New Jersey
launched the most robust legal online gambling regime in the nation.
State officials are also pushing to create new forms of legal gambling
by courting skill-based gambling companies and fighting in court to
bring legal sports betting to New Jersey despite a federal ban.
