Energy assistance expo
United Way of Greater
Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and the Atlantic County Sheriff's
Office will present an Economic & Energy Assistance Resource Expo
from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 12, at the Hamilton Mall, in
the space in front of Sears Department store, in Mays Landing.
This free event aims to connect
community members in need of assistance with programs and services that
are available in Atlantic County.
Representatives from Atlantic
City Electric, South Jersey Gas, Ocean Inc., American Water, and others
will be available to process assistance applications and answer
questions.

customers they have numerous options to apply for energy assistance if
they are having difficulty paying their energy bills.
•The Low Income Home Energy
Assistance Program assists residents in paying for heating costs and
certain medically necessary cooling expenses. Call 800-510-3102 or visit

•The Universal Service Fund helps ensure energy bills are more affordable for eligible customers. Call 800-510-3102 or visit energyassistance.nj.gov.
•The Payment Assistance for Gas
and Electric program provides relief on natural gas and electric bills
for low to moderate-income households. Call 732-982-8710 or visit njpoweron.org.
•New Jersey SHARES is a nonprofit
corporation that provides assistance to income eligible New Jersey
households with energy, telephone and water bills. Call 866-657-4273 or
visit njshares.org.
Lifeline is a utility assistance program that offers $225 to persons who meet certain income guidelines. Call 800-792-9745.
