County Budget Increases

The proposed 2015 Atlantic County budget is up 2.7 percent from last year, as the value
of the county’s taxable properties has continued to plummet.

SOME OF WHAT’S GOING UP IN 2015 BUDGET:
$2.1 million more in salaries
$467,572 more in health insurance costs
$479,999 more for institutionalizing mental patients
$284,645 more for extra staff for needy families

The Mayor makes some very credible points. Lower spending is what is needed to stabilize all government budgets. It is very easy to just keep increasing spending every single year but it is difficult to make adult decisions and cut wasteful spending.
