Atlantic County Unemployment

Atlantic County now has the highest unemployment rate of any metropolitan area east of the Rocky Mountains.
Out of 372 metro areas surveyed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Atlantic County finished 369th with a September jobless rate (not seasonally adjusted) of 10.8 percent.
The rest of the bottom 10 U.S. metro areas for jobs were in California, except for one in Arizona.

The Fed-adjusted figure for Atlantic County shows things are actually a bit worse here than the metro survey suggests, with 11.4 percent unemployment last month. That increase from 10.1 percent in August is almost entirely attributable to the loss of 4,900 leisure and hospitality jobs.
