Rita Busch, of Mullica Twp., was honored, Thursday Oct. 16, 2014, at the 26th annual Donald J. Sykes Awards ceremony at the Mays Landing Country Club.
The annual award is named after Donald J. Sykes, who died in 1991, and was a disabled county resident active in many community causes, including as chairman of the Atlantic County Disabled Citizens Advisory Board. Awardees are nominated by local organizations, family or friends as people who continue Sykes’ legacy.
Rita
Busch, who has a prosthetic leg due to a complication with her
diabetes, was nominated by Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation where
she volunteers once a week, taking public transportation to get there.
Awards were also given to May Landing residents Ellen Moskowitz and Lynne Kenny.
