New Jersey spent more than $2 million per mile -- over a dozen times the national average -- on state-run roadways in 2012, according to a recent report by the Reason Foundation.
The
state ranks 48th overall based on its below-average or poor ranking in
nine of 11 categories detailed in the report....
According to a report
by the Gannett Statehouse Bureau, the Transportation Trust Fund used by
the state to fund most of its construction budget, the fund is on-pace
to exhaust its borrowing capacity in June of next year. The trust fund
also provides money to counties and municipalities.
