The US Coast Guard will
be enforcing three temporary safety zones in the Delaware Bay and
Atlantic Ocean off Cape May starting later in the week because of a Navy
training exercise.
Officials say the safety zones will be enforced from Thursday until next Friday, October 24th as part of "Frontier Sentinel."
The annual training exercise includes the Navy, Coast Guard, and Canadian Military forces.
Officials say the exercise includes live mine counter-measure operations.
The
pretend scenario for the exercise involves the boarding of a ship in
Canadian waters and the discovery that its crew had mined the Delaware
Bay.
Entry, passage, and anchoring in the safety zones will be restricted for all boaters during the exercise.
