Carnival Magic Ebola Threat

A healthcare worker who had direct contact with deceased Ebola victim, Duncan, took a cruise with her husband on the Carnival Magic. The seven night cruise began on October 12th from Galveston, Texas. The ship called on Roatan, Honduras on Wednesday and Belize City on Thursday. The ship has 4633 people on board.

There are reports she was showing symptoms similar to Ebola and is in quarantine.
John Head, Carnival Senior Cruise Director has denied that the lab supervisor at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital has shown any symptoms of Ebola but admits she is in isolation on board the ship.

The ship is anchored in the waters off Belize. The Belize Coast Guard has been deployed to prevent anyone from leaving the ship.
The Belizian Government has refused a US request for assistance in evacuating the passenger through Phillip Goldson International Airport.
The ship has been denied docking privileges at Cozumel and from last twitter reports, it is on its way back to Galveston, Texas.

All passengers were allowed to visit in Belize, except healthcare worker and her husband.

Anonymous said...: Nobody knows for sure if this woman is showing symptoms or not. So many different reports.
This ship comes back to Galveston on Sunday.Are 4633 people going to get off and go their own ways and be told to "self monitor"???
Will we ever be told if this woman comes down with Ebola???
I guess we will find out in a couple of weeks if passengers become ill or there is an outbreak of Ebola in Honduras and Belize.
Don't worry. Our new political hack "Ebola Czar" with no medical training will handle the situation with Press conferences.; 7:36 PM
