GEHR Policy Change

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP – A large contingent of parents from the Laureldale section of Hamilton Township and the South Egg Harbor area of Galloway Township attended the Monday, September 22 meeting of the Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District to complain about a change in one of the district’s policies.

In the past, students that lived in those areas had the option to attend Cedar Creek High School in Egg Harbor City. The new policy up for adoption at the meeting and ultimately passed with a margin of 7 to 1, puts an end to those options. Students in Laureldale will now be assigned to Oakcrest High School while South Egg Harbor students will have Absegami High School as its home school.
The vote to adopt the policy came after a barrage of questions and complaints from numerous audience members.
