Crest toothpaste
is a danger to your teeth and gums because it contains polyethylene, a
non-biodegradable plastic used in trash cans, grocery bags, bullet proof
vests, containers, and other kinds of packaging. The manufacturer of
Crest toothpaste, Proctor and Gamble, is saying that it will remove
polyethylene from its tooth pastes and that it expects that by March of
2016, the removal should be complete, reports ABC10 on Sep. 15.
For the next 18 months, however, it will be up to consumers to be
aware of those blue little specks that can be seen in toothpaste and in
one’s gums and teeth. Valley dentist Justin Phillip says when the
microbeads get trapped in your gum line, they can let in more bacteria
and lead to even bigger problems including gingivitis and periodontal
disease.
