Mullica Township Education Association President Barbara Rheault said staff members are anxious to have new leadership.
“We hope the interim superintendent will be secured before the school year starts,” Rheault said.
“We hope the interim superintendent will be secured before the school year starts,” Rheault said.
Rheault
said she saw three of the candidates who came in for interviews. They
were Marylou DeFrancisco, a former superintendent in Ventnor who retired
as Hammonton’s superintendent in 2009; Tom Baruffi, who retired this
year as superintendent of both Linwood and Mainland Regional High
School; and Dan Loggi, a former Atlantic County superintendent who has
served as interim superintendent at several area districts.
Rheault
said she was told Tom Smith, interim superintendent in several
districts, including Fairfield Township in Cumberland County, was the
fourth candidate.
Jones
also said she is hopeful that contract negotiations will be resolved at
the next meeting. Teachers have voted to ratify a three-year contract,
and the board must now vote on it.

Board President Mia Jones should have resigned by now for her complicity in the tenure debacle. She likes getting special treatment for her children.
Do the right thing, turn in your resignation Mrs Jones!
There is no award for beating a dead horse. Stop perpetuating hate, anonymous, and move forward. Bullying is not just a problem with children, but so clearly a problem that begins with their parents. It's sad to see a small group of people who thrive on creating and inciting drama. Mia is a wonderful friend, daughter, sister, wife, and mother. Continually attacking her is attacking her family and especially her little boys. Think about that as you continue your hate brigade.
Dear Ms.Koontz,
Mia Jones might be a wonderful friend, daughter, sister, wife and mother but that doesn't mean she is a good as head of the BOE. Asking her to resign for the good of the school is not attacking her.
Under her leadership, the town has been ripped apart and very bad, costly decisions were made.
It is not hate, just common sense that speaks for her removal.
Maybe she should have though of how the boys of mrs Mascio. We're doing with all the hate the B.O.E. Had for the famlily her boys want to school every day with out there mother and all the hate they when throu the B.O.E still think,s they are right did they every reach out to the family I don,t thing so
Thank you posting done at 12:21.
This is a simple request for Mia Jones to resign. She failed to do due diligence in her role as Board Chair. She and others rubber stamped the tenure charge on Mrs Mascio. That was not the only thing this Board "rubber stamped" the Superintnedent.
Hire/fire Mrs Middleton as Principal in <180 days
Destroy the Gifted and Talented program
Voted their support for the Superintendent despite email and private data leaks publicly that we now pay for Credit protection for over 100 part time subs
I won't go on, but there are many instances to cite
This request would tip the balance of the new Board when they vote to a fair chance of those who will look into issues objectively
All the current Board members except Mr Stollenwerk just phoned in their vote
They did whatever the Superintendent said including making Matt Mazzoni Principal of the whole school. He filed false info against Mrs Mascio. Is he the right person to be Principal and make daily decisions for all the students?
Do you think the Board will change if they elect 3 members who get on in January? One vote from Mr Stollenwerk still adds up to the inability to make change. So now, we will live with another year of no real effort at correcting the problems this District faces
Dear Ms. Koontz,
I, too, strongly believe that Ms. Jones needs to resign from our BOE. The fact that I believe this does not make me a bully or a beater of a dead horse. I am not attacking her as a daughter, sister, friend, mother, nor am I attacking her children. Instead, I am simply requesting that an ineffective BOE President resign for the benefit of our school & community.
Ms. Koontz, you may want to educate yourself with some of the decisions Ms. Jones has made as BOE President. Ms. Jones headed a BOE that has continually wasted taxpayer monies and made decisions that negatively impact the education of all our schoolchildren. Ms. Jones headed a BOE that was ineffective in pursuing tenure charges against Ms. Mascio at a cost of over $100,000 to our small district. In fact, some may describe the actions taken against Ms. Mascio by superintendent Marro and the BOE as personal attacks against Ms. Mascio that crossed the line into bullying. So, perhaps you should speak with Ms. Jones about the bullying, lying, and intimidating tactics used by school administration and the BOE.
Like 12:21, I do not have a "hate brigade" for Ms. Jones or any other BOE member. My feelings focus more on what is best for Mullica's schoolchildren and our community as a whole. In that regard, an incompetent/ineffective BOE must be addressed and, at some point, the President of such a Board must be held accountable. I, too, respectfully call for the resignation of Ms. Jones so that she can be replaced by someone capable of repairing all of the damage that has been done. I also believe that there is more than a "small group" of people in this town that feel as though Ms. Jones' resignation is best for everyone.
