The state Department of Health issued an advisory to
New Jersey health care providers to be wary of Ebola symptoms in people
who have traveled to west Africa in the past three weeks, and to report
all hemorrhagic fevers immediately to local health departments and to
isolate suspected patients.
State officials note, however, that there is little risk of the virus in New Jersey at this time.
But
with its close proximity to international airports, some New Jersey
residents worry about the possibility that the Ebola virus might make
its way across the Atlantic from the western African nations. Since
March, 729 people have died from Ebola in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone
and Nigeria, according to the World Health Organization.
