Man accused in Mullica killing free of charges after court ruling, no re-indictment

Michael Castro, 32, had been accused in the Feb. 5, 2012, killing of John Kingsbury, 77, of Mullica Township. His indictment has been thrown out.

  

A man accused in a 2012 Mullica Township killing is free of all charges after the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office failed to re-indict him.

Michael Castro, 33, was accused of killing 77-year-old John Kingsbury on Feb. 5, 2012. Castro was arrested 14 months after the killing, after he had moved to Florida.

In June, defense attorney Douglas Cody successfully argued that “false and misleading testimony” given to a grand jury should negate the murder indictment against Castro.
