Sick Time Cap Bill

Two New Jersey state senators say they are introducing a bill that would cap at $15,000 the amount public workers could be paid for unused sick days when they retire.

Republican Senator Joe Kyrillos and Democratic Senate President Steve Sweeney say the payouts some workers get are too high and are not affordable for governments that are having budget problems.

Lawmakers adopted a similar bill in 2010, but Republican Governor Chris Christie vetoed it, saying he did not want to allow any payouts.

A spokesman said that Christie won't support the new bill, saying "sick time is for when you are sick".

So, Christie wants a bill that would make retirees forfeit all unused sick time that they accumulated over the years?

The way the country seems to be going is part-time & no benefits for regular working folks who have to pay for the public workers benefits. It might be fair to have a "use it or lose it" policy.
