BOE Meeting, 7/30, - Marro Resignation


Staff Writer for the Press,Michelle Brunetti Post, was present at the meeting ,so an article should be put up shortly.
Lori Kelly, Melinda Matos and Terence Watson were absent. Mr. Watson attended the executive session and was present for voting.
Amy L.Houck took Mr. Donio's place.
Vote 1
The Board, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:17-15, hereby agrees to employ Dr. Brenda Harring-Marro as Superintendent of Schools for a period of four (4) years beginning (retroactive to) July1, 2014 through 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2018 and this Contract of Employment shall expire as of June 30, 2018.  The parties acknowledge that this Contract must be approved by the Atlantic County Executive County Superintendent in accordance with applicable law and regulation.

Vote 2
Accept resignation notification of Brenda Harring-Marro, Superintendent, with regret and appreciation for 8 years of service, affective October 15th or sooner if an interim Superintendent can be secured.
All voted YES

Vote 3
Approve advertizement for an interim Superintendent.
All voted YES

I would like to thank the present board members for agreeing to wait until the new board members are sworn in in January before they start the search for a permanent Superintendent.
That is a giant step toward healing.

BOE President and the other vote to certify tenure charges should resign. Then all candidates can take seats ensuring the old BOE is a minority vote as we go forward.
