Hammonton police have surrounded a residence on Pleasant Mills Road in the Whispering Pines complex.
Alan
Hitchens, a resident on Jamestown Boulevard, said he heard shots fired
from what he thought sounded like a pellet gun at about 10 p.m.
Wednesday.
"The
cops told everyone to go inside," he said. In addition, he said a
county Emergency Response Team truck and police vehicles from Hammonton
and Mullica Township are in the complex.
"They have guns pointed at the house," Hitchens said.
As
of 1:45 a.m. Thursday police were still on scene, and telling the
suspect to stay visible near a door or contact officials so they know he
is OK, he said.
Emergency
responders have blocked off the road on Pleasant Mills, between Main
Road and Airport Road, as well as access to Dogwood Lane.
Residents are also being denied entrance to the area.
Officials on site said the barricade was set up at about 11 p.m.
Police gave no information other than they are currently dealing with a "situation."
There is no other information at this time.

It's been a month since Lynn DeRosa was killed and nothing has been released. It appears that it's not such an open and shut case.
So sad for the family. May he rest in peace
