Setbacks For Egg Harbor City

EGG HARBOR CITY — Just when it looked like the city was on the cusp of success, separate blows have taken away the developer who was transforming its northern end with a 400-home community and a restaurant that had become a showpiece for the downtown’s potential.

The Avenue restaurant, which opened a year ago and drew regulars from around the region for locally grown food, live entertainment and craft beers, closed suddenly last Wednesday because of a falling out between its owner and the couple running it.
