Payge Neals Wins Art Contest

The Mullica Township Parent Teacher Association ( PTA ) proudly announces Payge Neals as the first place winner of its First Annual Jaiden Ohnemuller-Muskett Visual Arts Contest.

"With so many impressive entries, the PTA officers found it very difficult to select a winner.  Payge Neals's colorful drawing and depiction of our theme, Mullica Township PRIDE, scored the highest among all entries," Beth Schroeder Buonsante, PTA Treasurer and contest chairwoman, said.

This year is the first year of the new contest, which was created to honor the memory of Mullica Township fourth grade student, Jaiden Ohnemuller-Muskett, who was tragically killed in a car accident on December 21, 2013.

"Jaiden was a fun-loving, sweet little boy, whose untimely passing rocked our community.  When the PTA learned of his love for making videos, we thought sponsoring an annual visual arts contest would be the best way to celebrate his life and cherish his memory," Schroeder-Buonsante said.

Open to all fourth graders in the Mullica Township School, the first place winner of the new visual arts contest will receive a $200 U.S. Savings Bond.  Earlier in the year, the Mullica Township PTA held a movie night to raise money toward the expenses of running the new art contest.

The Mullica PTA received nine entries from fourth grade students, all of whom were classmates of Jaiden's.  In recognition of all of the fantastic entries, each participant will receive a certificate of achievement and a $10 gift card to Michael's Art's and Crafts Store.
