Bear Sightings


 
HAMMONTON — If you think you’ve seen a bear around the neighborhood lately, you are not alone.
Two people reported to the state they saw bears in Hammonton this week, Department of Enviornmental Protection spokesperson Bob Considine said. Several more sighting have been reported in the media in nearby town of Winslow Township, he said.
“They came out with a bang this year in particular,” Considine said of black bears breaking hibernation. “The winter was so cold, and there are fewer plants and greenery for them to forage.”
