New Science

One Atlantic County school is innovatively teaching new science curriculum to its young students.
Northfield Community Elementary School's "STEM" program is making progress. "STEM" stands for science, technology, education, and math. School officials say they have students as young as seven using Lego software that teaches them how to create movement by creating computer code. Students are also designing models at home that can be printed on one of two of the school's new 3D printers.

Kevin Jarrett a teacher of computer education stated, "Students have been able to render objects like snow flakes, tree houses and buildings that up to now they would only imagine. Now they're able to design and print them and take them home."

The district received the 3D printers through a grant that Jarrett applied for. The district is also using social media to put lesson plans on facebook each week so parents can follow along at home, what's going on at school.
