Curcio Suspended

The state Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Atlantic County Surrogate James Curcio will be suspended for two months beginning January 1, 2014.
The Board of Chosen Freeholders, which Curcio used to chair, will determine how much of his $91,650 salary he will receive in 2014.

Curcio's first ethic violation was a $100-per-person Republican fundraiser held March 19,2011, for then Assembly Candidate Chris Brown at Chickie's and Pete's restaurant in EHT.  Curcio was listed as the host committee chairman and his position as surrogate was not mentioned.

The other issue was his second DWI in two years, in April 2013 in Mullica Township, for which he later pleaded guilty.
The court also ruled that Curcio broke several state rules and he shall continue to participate actively in treatment programs to address his alcoholism.

Update
Jim Curcio does not think it's right that the court ordered the Board of Chosen Freeholders to decide how much salary he will receive while he's suspended from judicial duties.
Curcio said he will not accept any salary for January and February while he still carries out the administrative aspects of the Surrogate's Office.
