Dan Westcoat, Sr. is a 32 year volunteer and Chief of the Nesco Volunteer Fire Company in Mullica Township.  Dan Jr, 24, also a volunteer fire fighter, had a car accident on Feb.23.  There was snow on a bend in the road and his car went sideways.  The back end hit a telephone pole and Dan was thrown onto the passenger side and broke his back.  He is now paralyzed from the chest down and relies on a wheelchair.
The Elwood Volunteer Fire Company is dedicating funds from its charity golf tournament to the Westcoats.  The family needs an electric stair climber and renovations to the bathroom and kitchen, so Dan, Jr. can access them in his chair.
