Solar Powered Plane
Right now, a solar powered plane is en-route to fly by Atlantic City on its way to New York from Dulles International Airport. This is the final leg of a history- making cross country flight.
The plane is flying at an altitude of about a mile and a half with an air speed of 25 knots or about 28 miles an hour. The "Solar Impulse" is powered by some 11,000 solar cells and seats a single pilot, Andre Borschberg.
The public can track the progress of the flight to New York and see its future flight path via live video on the Solar Impulse website: http://live.solarimpulse.com/
