Jury Duty Scam
Local police agencies have issued a warning about an on going scam involving jury duty.
A caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your social security number and date of birth so he can cancel the arrest warrant. The callers use intimidation and try to bully people into giving information.
The identity theft scam has been reported in 11 states and the FBI and federal court system have issued a nationwide alert.
Call Egg Harbor Twp. Police if you have questions or have been called. 1-609-927-5200
