Essay Competition
Atlantic County- based Veterans of Foreign Wars District 16 is taking entries for its VFW and Ladies Auxiliary Patriots Pen essay scholarship competition for students in sixth through eight grades.
One first place winner from each district will be sent to compete at the state level for a chance to compete nationally. The National winner earns a $5000 scholarship and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
To enter, students must write an essay of between 300 and 400 words on the theme "What patriotism means to me." Students must not identify themselves or their school in the essay, and should do so only on their entry form.
Essays must be submitted to the local VFW post by November 1, 2013.
This is a great summer project!
