Calls for Help

The Atlantic County government is experiencing a significant increase in the number of calls to it's offices.  As a result, callers may have difficulty making contact.  County officials are aware of the situation and are asking for the public's understanding and cooperation.

On the average, the county receives approximately 75 - 90 calls per hour.  Within the last several weeks the volume of calls has averaged 450 calls PER HOUR.  This appears to be due to the fact that more and more residents are in need of programs and services, such as food stamps, general assistance, Medicare, and more.  Information about many of these federal assisted programs is available at www.njhelps.org

The county website also provides information and resources at www.aclink.org that includes toll free numbers, information specific to each department and additional contacts for state and federal programs as well as non-profits.
The public can also call 2-1-1 to access information about human services agencies.

Referring to the post below, since we now know that N.J. has an extra 12 million dollars that can be saved if  a special senatorial election can be delayed for just THREE WEEKS, wouldn't it be gracious of Governor Christie to share the ballot and really help the citizens of N.J. who are in dire need ?

Don't forget that the primary will be another 12 million bucks. That 24 million could really help the shore recover from hurricane Sandy. This is such a waste of our money all because Christie is afraid that the Dems might come out in larger numbers
