They voted on Bill's replacement without adding it to the agenda, with Gabris and Polk voting for Graebener and Brown and Rifle voting no. Then Rifle and Brown voted for Schroeder and Gabris and Polk voted no. The mayor called for a special meeting for the 23rd for another vote, the day before the deadline for the committee to select Bill's replacement, rather than asking for a motion to reconsider. Hopefully, Brown and Riffle will have a change of heart and go along with the two Democrats' choice or it will be another stalemate and the Mullica Democratic County Committee will then decide for them.
In either case, there should be a full committee again by the next township committee meeting, with the Democrats then in the majority.

The republicans had the meeting hall doors locked and the chief standing guard inside during the meeting, for some reason.

RE: Dems regaining control
With this change in power, there will come a new responsibility. What happens (or doesn't happen) on committee will now be attributed to the Democrats, rather than to the Republicans.

I was told that Riffle justified his choice of Beth Schroeder, who has no experience serving the community, by using the example of himself, who he said also had no experience of serving the community before the voters put him in office.

Wow! I just read the new Mullica Tax Force article. It looks like Brown and Riffle want to waste our money, manpower and machinery to maintain a PRIVATE road. Who else gave to their campaign that they would want to extend such a service?
To top it all, none of the people who live by the road want this done.
Brown and Riffle should be more concerned about fixing the public roads in town which got damaged by the storm.

I agree with the township closing off the cemetery road to through traffic so that it doesn't continually get destroyed by garbage trucks, etc., who are looking for a quick shortcut. It was only meant for people visiting their loved ones' graves. Its a private road. It should be maintained by those who have family buried in the cemetery. By blocking the road to passersby, it will protect the road's constant damage and misuse from those who have no legitimate reason to use it.

The cemetery road has been a sore subject for years. There's one guy left to take care of it. He should go to all the families who have plots or loved ones in the cemetery and have them all contribute to a fund for maintenance of the grounds and road.
If family members don't want to share in the cost, then it should be closed to all future burials and the dead should be left to rest in peace.
If a fund is formed, then they should put up a gate to the road in order to give the neighborhood some relief from truck traffic cutting through to the school.

Why don't we put up a no truck signe and ticket all those trucks that us it. Town can make a few bucks !!!

RE: No Truck Sign
Its not a public road so the township has no jurisdiction.
It would be just like the town making a speed limit for your driveway and then trying to issue tickets.

re 11:24 pm
Thankfully, the democrats fought for our freedom of speech and reversed an Ordinance passed by the Chasey/Forman Republican administration. There are still things written on our books that can be challenged as unconstitutional in a court of law.
You're right. Anything is possible with a corrupt Committee looking out for their donators, friends or for political advantage.
