I realize how horrific this accident was for the families involved and I hope they can find some peace knowing a suspect has been charged.
There have been many fatal accidents on the Pike and unfortunately there will be more in the future.
I don't want to be insensitive to grieving families but there has to be some kind of restrictions as to what can be placed on public property by the roadside,if anything, for a memorial.
Woodchips, multiple standing wreaths, pavers on the ground, photos nailed to a tree, balloons, flowers, chairs and a guardian angel statue would not even be allowed in a cemetery for a grave.
The Pike is a very dangerous road and this memorial is growing everyday into a bigger distraction for drivers.
This is setting a precedence for future grieving families to set up personal grottoes along the pike. I don't think this should be allowed for safety reasons.
I find the previous comment insensitive. Give these people some time to grieve in their own way. That memorial won't be there forever. It will eventually go away, just as other such memorials inevitably do. In the meantime, it's not harming anyone.
You know, many of our roads and bridges, etc. are named after people to remember them too. Should we also get rid of the signs that take note of them or is are those OK with you?
