Jim Brown-"I don't & haven't made promises I can't keep"
That's right. He hasn't said anything yet about any plans he has up his sleeve.
Jim Brown-"& will work harder to listen and give citizens input."
He wouldn't even come & talk to all the people at the dump. He sent other people. Why would anyone believe he would be interested in the people after the election.
God,somebody please get him a manssiere!

So the reporters tracked down Larry "Waldo" Riffle a week before the election and actually got him to speak. He utters that he wants to keep Mullica "affordable". Doesn't that sound familiar? Maybe he should have told Chasey that years ago and our taxes wouldn't be so high now.
Ohhh,I feel so sorry for that poor dog.

Where were Brown and Riffle at the budget meetings this year? Neither bothered to show up. If they were really worried about taxes, they wouldn't have just popped up now.

"Jim Brown says that he wants to do more long range planning at budget time".
This from a guy who probably hasn't attended a budget meeting in the past 30 years. Municipal budgets have become much more complex since 1980. Given these tough economic times and with the state cutting back on revenue to the municipalities, its going to take everything to develop budgets that will help the taxpayers get through the next few rough years and that is where the focus at budget time needs to be and will be placed.

I'm sure that Kathy and Janet are gleaning this article to try to find something negative to say about the Keep Mullica Green candidates.

Jim wants to eliminate "mudslinging" yet his slick flyer does just that.

"I ... will work harder to listen and give citizens input, (Brown) says."
That's because he hasn't a clue himself. Maybe Kathy can help.

You know, we know very little, if anything, what Brown and Riffle would actually do in office. Both say that they will listen to the residents but what will they hear? Why would you buy two pigs in the poke when you have two candidates with proven track records and you know where they stand on the issues?

Does anyone here remember anything that went on in the town between 1978-1980? It would be interesting to know if someone remembers Brown.

It was like the Wild West. Ordinances weren't enforced. People did what they wanted. Mullica was truly Hicksville, with poor schools. Trash dumps were allowed to spring up and grow. Mullica Township was Atlantic County's armpit.

RE: "Does anyone here remember anything that went on in the town between 1978-1980?"
There was a kennel at the dump when it was a dump, where strays were housed and shot by the township. That's how Larry Angel first got involved in his community activism. He put a stop to it.
Also, it was about the time that plans were being hatched for the county to make the Amatol tract between Moss Mill and Columbia roads a big dump for the county's incinerated trash. Larry and other local activists helped put a stop to it too. I think that Larry was thrown out of the group for being too abnoxious.
Remenents of the kennel and "no dump" signs on trees remained visible until the late 80's.
