Three Mullica Township police officers received promotions last week from the Township Committee to fill the vacancies left by two retiring officers, and another part-time police officer was hired.
Brian Zeck, 38, of Sweetwater, was promoted from detective to sergeant. Erik Carricarte, 33, of Stafford, was promoted from patrol officer to corporal. Anthony Trivelli, 44, of Mullica, was promoted from the patrol division to the detective bureau. Ryan Spencer, 23, of Galloway, became a special class II officer.
Mullica Police Chief Paul Register swore in the officers at the Sept. 28 meeting, and he praised them all for being a "master of himself" and having "vision, passion, conscience and discipline." The police department has 12 full-time officers and two part-time officers.
Mayor Michael St. Amour praised the Police Department for its work, even though it is short-staffed at times, and he said they are doing "a tremendous job."
Congratulations to all four officers.

Why is it that the Press always reports anyone from the Sweetwater section of Mullica Township as being from Sweetwater and everyone else being from Mullica rather than Nesco, Elwood, Weekstown or Devonshire? Aren't they part of this town too?
